Former TNA Chairman Johnson Sakaja’s Senatorial bid for Nairobi County has received a major boost.

This is after Central Organization of Trade Union (COTU) Secretary-General Francis Atwoli during Labour Day celebrations at Uhuru Park urged city residents to vote for Sakaja irrespective of his political party.

Atwoli said Sakaja is like his son and he wants to see him clinch Senator’s position.

“The incoming Senator is my own son. I cannot lead politics in Nairobi without leading my own son.Lazima upende mototo yako kwanza kabla upende ya mwingine (you have to love your child first before you love someone else’s child),” said Atwoli on Monday.

“There is a young man here called Sakaja. That is my own son. Irrespective of which political party he is in, but he grew up in my house with my kids. Even if it is one vote from his mother and me, we will vote for him.”

He urged workers from the city to rally behind Sakaja and supports his city Senatorial bid.

“I am asking the workers, irrespective of the political party he is in, give me Sakaja,” urged Atwoli.

Sakaja emerged winner in the Jubilee primaries to get the ticket to vie for Nairobi Senator on August 8.
