COVID-19 cases reduce as 163 are confirmed in single day

The COVID-19 caseload in the country rose to 92,055 after 163 more people tested positive in the last 24 hours.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that 2,283 samples were tested. Of the positive cases, 84 are male and 79 are female, while the youngest case is a one-year-old child and the oldest is aged 88 years.

The Health CS added that another 424 patients recovered from the disease bringing the total recoveries to 7,452. Of the new recoveries, 378 were from home-based care programme while 46 were from various hospitals around the country.

Sadly, six patients succumbed to the disease raising the death toll to 1,593.

Currently, there are 960 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide and 6,581 on Home Based Isolation and Care.

49 patients are in the ICU, 27 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 20 on supplemental oxygen. 2 are on observation.

Another 46 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 37 are in the general wards. Nine are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Nairobi led with 94, Kiambu 15, Homa Bay 8, Uasin Gishu 7, Nakuru 6, Machakos 4, Murang’a 3, Kisumu 3, Trans Nzoia 3, Mombasa 2.

Kajiado 2, Meru 2, Laikipia 2, Kakamega 2, Isiolo 1, Makueni 1, Bungoma 1, Migori 1, Nyandarua 1, Tharaka Nithi 1, Kirinyaga 1, Embu 1, Narok 1 and Vihiga 1.
