COVID-19 death toll decreases with only one fatality recorded in single day

Some 427 new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Wednesday bringing the country’s total caseload to 95,195.

A total of 7,593 samples were tested in the last 24 hours raising the cumulative Covid-19 tests in the country to 1,021,880.

According to the Ministry of Health, out of the new cases, 406 were Kenyans while 21 were foreigners, with 256 being males and 171 females.

On Wednesday, some 286 patients were discharged, 228 of whom were from home-based care programme while 58 were discharged from various health facilities from across the country.

This brings the total recoveries to 76,508.

Sadly, one more patient succumbed to the virus bringing the death toll in the country to 1,648.

Hitherto, 789 patients have been admitted in various health facilities countrywide and another 3,705 on home-based isolation and care.

Another 43 patients are currently in the Intensive Care Units (ICU), 20 of whom are on ventilatory support, 21 on supplementary oxygen and 2 on observation.

The Ministry of Health informed that another 29 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, 24 of whom are in general wards and 5 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
