The number of COVID-19 deaths continues to increase by the day with 26 more succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours.
This now brings the total deaths in the country to 1,186.
Further, the number of new cases on Wednesday rose to 65,804 after 1,216 new cases were confirmed, a press statement by the Ministry of Health indicated.
A total of 6,816 samples were tested bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 760,775.
Of the positive cases, 1,174 are Kenyans while 42 are foreigners.
726 are male while 490 are female. The youngest case was an 11-month-old infant while the oldest was aged 99 years.
Further, 513 patients were discharged, 382 from home-based care programme and 149 from various hospitals around the country.
The total number of recoveries is now 43,626.
Nairobi had 439 cases, Mombasa 250, Kilifi 63, Kiambu 59, Taita Taveta 52, Nyeri 41, Uasin Gishu 38, Laikipia 32, Kisumu 30, Kajiado 24, Kakamega 24, Kitui 22, Siaya 20, Machakos 19, Bungoma 17, Meru 14, Nandi 11, Tana River 10, Garissa 9, Homabay 8, Kisii 8, Nakuru 6, Kirinyaga 5, Murang’a 3, Elgeyo Marakwet 2 while Turkana, Nyandarua, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Kwale, Migori, West Pokot and Makueni had one case each.
The statement added that some 2,148 healthcare workers have so far tested positive for COVID-19 and 23 of them have passed on since March.
The number of admitted patients is now 1,289 patients while 5,960 are on Home-Based Isolation care.
Another 57 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 18 of whom are on ventilatory support and 34 on supplemental oxygen.
