Kenyan musician Esther Akoth alias Akothee is known for her high-end life.

She is a woman who enjoys the comfort of sleek vehicles and when she is not travelling on road, she is in the skies flying.

Speaking recently to Lupita Nyong’o during an Instagram Live show, Akothee disclosed that her monthly budget went down by Ksh2 million due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Akothee said that grounding of flights – both domestic and international – saved her the cost of air tickets.

“I was just all over the place for nothing and my bills reduced from Sh3.5 million a month to Sh1.5 million, Covid really toned me down. After Covid, I actually found out I can stay in my house for a whole month, and it gave me the opportunity to even think much more. I identified the kind of a person I am. I worked on my emotions and developed quite a lot,” she said.

“In each and every situation, there has to be a solution. Covid was a curse and a blessing at the same time.”

She noted that during the pandemic which saw her spend most of the time indoors, she spent more time with the people who matter.

She also had plenty of time to bond with her children who were in Europe.

“I really grew. I got time to bond with my kids apart from the one living in France because of the lockdown. I realised I didn’t need a lot of people around me. Before, I would walk around with not less than 10 people because I have no freedom.”

Akothee has in the past set tongues wagging due to her lavish lifestyle.

However, she has silenced her critics telling them to invest and make wise business decisions to fund their lifestyle.

Lupita on her part said that the pandemic made her realize that she misses her family back in Kenya so much.
