Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) boss George Kinoti revisited slain Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei’s home in Villa Franka Estate, Imara Daima on Saturday.
Kinoti was accompanied by a team of detectives and spent long hours at the house.
Kenei was attached to the Office of the Deputy President William Ruto at Harambee House Annexe.
Kenei’s body was found at his house on February 20 and investigations so far have revealed that he was murdered to silence him.
Kenei was one of those that the DCI was treating as witnesses in Ksh40 billion fake arms tender involving disgraced ex-Sports CS Rashid Echesa.
The Saturday visit by Kinoti and team came as an insider privy to the case hinted that investigations were almost coming to an end.
Were it not for the coronavirus pandemic, the DCI would have already concluded the investigations, the source added.
Preliminary findings of the investigation revealed that on the fateful day when Kenei went missing, he had shown up for duty but was not supposed to be.

The DCI source noted that some government officials have been pressuring Chesang to say that Kenei died of suicide and not murder, something that the investigation personnel are cautious about.
The DCI had earlier released footage documenting Kenei’s last moments at the Harambee Annexe where he is seen with among others, Echesa and his associates.
This too has been made available to his father as he is briefed on the progress of the case.
Investigators say that Kenei’s body was planted at his house after being murdered elsewhere. It had a gunshot wound in the chin.
His killers according to DCI erased all data from his phone to cover their tracks.
