The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is pursuing two crucial leads in the mysterious disappearance of four men in Kitengela.
On the detectives’ radar is a police officer reportedly said to have been protecting some of the men.
The police officer was then transferred and hell broke loose for them. There reports that among the quartet, there was one of them involved in criminal activities and had his friends as accomplices.
Detectives are also pursuing a man and a woman – a couple perhaps – who were last seen with the four men at a Kitengela pub on April 19.
The bodies of two men were last week found in Murang’a and Thika morgues.
The body of 35-year-old Elijah Obuong was found along a riverbank in Murang’a by sand harvesters who reported and was taken to a morgue in Murang’a.
The second body of 30-year-old Benjamin Imbai was found at the General Kago mortuary in Thika.
Obuong’s mother, Caroline who lives in Kitengela said that her son’s death was a “collateral damage”.
She told the press that Obuong was a staunch Seventh Day Adventist whose only mistake was hanging out with bad company.
“My son was a staunch Adventist and did not take alcoholic drinks. He only had friends of questionable character,” she told People Daily.
Caroline said that Obuong lives a high-end life despite having no job. He depended on the grandmother who sent him money from the US.
She added that it is his grandmother who was paying his rent in Kayole where he lived.
“My son used to live a high-end lifestyle and drive flashy cars but he was jobless. We as a family fund his lifestyle and cater for his bills. His grandmother, who is abroad, would send him enough money,” his mother said.
