Details of Waititu-Nyoro power sharing deal emerge after beating Kabogo in Jubilee primaries

Days before Jubilee primaries first kicked off last week on Friday, Ferdinand Waititu and Dr. James Nyoro signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) detailing how they will share power.

The two, are part of a conglomerate that united under Team United Kiambu banner to oust incumbent governor William Kabogo.

The others are businessman David Ngare (Gakuyo), Eng. John Mugwe and Aquiline Njoki all of whom were contesting for Kiambu governorship before they united to front Waititu as their flag bearer.

Interestingly, the signed MoU between Waititu and Nyoro highlighted that the two leaders will share power on a 50-50 basis. Waititu will be the governor while Nyoro deputizes him.

Part of the agreement read that the two leaders will share power on a 50-50 basis.

This includes making senior appointments for county executive committee members to run various ministries within the county government.

Waititu has described this MoU as unique, adding that they are bent on moving Kiambu forward through better leadership which was devoid in Kabogo’s government.

According to an earlier arrangement between the four leaders under Team Kiambu, Eng. Mugwe will take over as the county Minister in-charge of Roads and Public Works.

Gakuyo will also get a senior position in the Kiambu County Government.

The team staged a bruising’ battle against Kabogo and managed to lead by a huge margin.

As at 9:44 a.m Kenyan time on Wednesday morning after the nominations, Waititu was on the lead with over 17, 000 votes against Kabogo’s slightly more than 2, 350 votes.
