Alliance for Real Change (ARC) Presidential candidate Abduba Dida has chided President Uhuru Kenyatta’s call for national prayers as hypocritical.

Uhuru on Wednesday in a state of the nation address declared Sunday (today) a national Prayer day.

He said the country is undergoing difficult times with the current political turmoil occasioned by nullification of August 8 polls by the Supreme Court.

But Dida slammed The President and his Deputy William Ruto saying that they need to repent first before embarking on national prayers.

In an exclusive interview with NTV on Sunday, Dida said he cannot attend such prayers.

“I see that as blasphemy, before you pray first meet the conditions, there is a criteria…a whole government, everybody is complaining, you are stealing. If you have taken land bring back the land, if you have taken money, if you have taken anything that belongs to me bring it back,” said Dida.

He went on: “And then when it is between you and God, you have to stop the nonsense that you are doing when you remember it you have to regret and you have to promise God that you will never do it again. When you are done with the conditions of repentance is when you can comfortably ask God.”

But even as he said this, the national prayer service went down at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

Uhuru and Ruto together with a  host of Jubilee politicians graced the event.
