The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Keriako Tobiko has recommended that Raila Odinga’s sister, Ruth Odinga be charged over anti-IEBC chaos.

In a letter to DCI boss Ndegwa Muhoro dated October 23, the DPP said he finds sufficient evidence ton prosecute Odinga as well as Kisumu Senator Fred Outa.

“Upon perusal of the file and analysis of the evidence on record, the DPP finds the evidence sufficient to warrant prosecution of the two suspects and their accomplices,” read part of the letter.

He said the two suspects should be immediately charged at Kericho Law Courts on two charges: “Entering in an electoral designated by the IEBC area without authority.”

The second charge leveled on the two leaders is obstructing an election officer in executing his lawful duties “contrary to Section 13(i) of the Election Offences Act No. 37 of 2016.”

Outa and Ruth are reported to have been behind chaos unleashed on a group of IEBC officials set to undergo training in Kisumu last week.

A group of rowdy youth stormed the place where the officials were to undergo training ahead of Thursday’s repeat polls and wreaked havoc.

Police intervened and dispersed the youths but not before they destroyed tents and chairs at the venue.
