Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is currently admitted at the Nairobi Hospital following bouts of fatigue he has been experiencing in the last few days.

His personal doctor, Olouch Olunya, a neurologist told the press on Wednesday that Raila he has undergone a series of medical tests after checking in.

Dr Olunya in a statement said that: “Odinga walked in for routine medical test at the Nairobi Hospital on March 9, 2021 after feeling some fatigue.”

A team of doctors is attending to Raila.

“He is still undergoing some further investigations with a team of doctors and has been advised to take a rest,” he added. “We are continuing to monitor his condition and no doubt will be able to address the country in due course. He is in good spirits.”

Going forward, Raila’s personal assistant Dennis Onyango will be handling questions on the progress of the opposition leader.

Raila had checked into Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday and left for his Karen home before returning today morning after the fatigue and body aches persisted.

He has been asked to rest as doctors continue monitoring him. This means that he will not feature in any political event.

“We are continuing to monitor his condition and no doubt he will be able to address the country in due course,” he added.

Raila was scheduled to hold a closed-door meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta in State House on Tuesday but his ill-health saw the meeting cancelled.

For the last five days, Raila has been in an intense campaign at the Coast where he is drumming support for ODM party ahead of 2022 elections.

Raila’s brother Dr Oburu Odinga said he is yet to find out if Raila is ailing from Covid-19 though tests have been carried out but the results are not yet out.

“I left last night (Tuesday), but from what I observed I could not see any signs of COVID,” said Oburu. I left last night, but from what I observed I could not see any signs of COVID,” he told the press.
