A family from Kahawa West is mourning the death of their daughter killed by her boyfriend days before she flew out to Qatar for a job.

Joyce Wanjiru Nyambura, 34, reportedly disagreed with her boyfriend Golden Nyakundi who was opposed to her leaving the country.

According to Wanjiru’s family, the deceased was scheduled to leave for the country in the Middle East on Friday, July 30.

Nyakundi allegedly stabbed Wanjiru in the abdomen and mouth using a knife before going into hiding. He also assaulted her before stabbing her as her body has visible bruises on the head.

Police are on the lookout for the suspect after the case was reported at Kahawa West police station. He is yet to be arrested.

Wanjiru’s sister says the deceased struggled to get a job in Kenya and Qatar was her only alternative but her life was taken away.

“My sister had really struggled to secure a job here in Kenya in vain until she got the chance to leave for Qatar and we were all happy as a family. However, the turn of events has left the family with so much pain,” she said.

Her brother added:  “All we want is justice as a family since we know my sister was kind and loving. Why was she killed just days before she left the country?”

Her body is lying at the Kenyatta Memorial Funeral Home awaiting a postmortem.
