NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka will take the oath as the People’s Deputy President on February 28 at Uhuru Park, the Star reports.

Kalonzo has been under pressure from quarters within the opposition to take oath after he allegedly cowed out of the last ‘swearing-in’ held on January 30 where Raila Odinga was installed as the People’s President.

Last week at a press conference, Kalonzo slammed his critics who have derided him as a coward and said he is more than ready to take the oath.

“How I wish I was able to do it [take the oath] right now. Taking the oath is not an issue. We are not cowards,” he said according to the Star.

In the new plan, his lieutenants have confirmed that in deed, the Wiper Party boss is in for the oath.

Makueni Senator Mutula told the Star that “there are a few issues they are sorting out as principals first, but he will be sworn in.”

Wiper Executive Director Jared Siso said Kalonzo’s swearing-in is being handled by NASA summit and further directions will be given in due course.

“The official position is that until the principals have agreed on the date and exact details then he will be sworn-in,” said Siso.

Kalonzo’s oath-taking will also be marked by NASA’s launch of their drive to hold a referendum to amend the constitution.

NASA seeks to bring back the positions of Prime Minister and two deputies respectively like in the Grand coalition government where Raila was the PM and was deputized by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Musalia Mudavadi.

It is expected that after the wiper boss is sworn in as Raila’s deputy, they will both embark on pushing for fresh polls in August although the next polls according to the Constitution are slated for 2022.

His swearing-in is likely to rekindle run-ins with the police who have been hunting some prominent figures within the coalition since Raila was sworn in on January 30.

Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang is currently facing charges at a Ngong Court in regard to the fete for having administered the oath.

His partner-self-proclaimed NRM ‘general’ Miguna Miguna was deported to Canada last week over his alleged role at the fete.

Other nine NASA allied politicians including James Orengo, Jimmy Wanjigi and Hassan Joho were forced to seek anticipatory bail to block their arrest by the state over the unofficial event that further strained political ties with the ruling regime, Jubilee.
