Five Embu college students gang-raped by ten men in hostel

Five Students from Embu College are being treated at the Embu Level Five Referral Hospital after they were gang raped by 10 people on Friday night.

The ten-man gang reportedly broke into the student’s Castle Girls Hostels at midnight armed with crude weapons.

One of the victims said they demanded for money before raping them repeatedly. The gang threatened to slash them if they raised alarm.

“The gangsters gained access into the hostels at around midnight armed with machetes, metal bars and other crude weapons, they demanded money, laptops and gas cylinders and other personal items,” she told the Star.

Castle Girl’s Hostels are about 100 metres from Embu West AP lines. The hostels house students from Embu University and those from Chuka University, Embu campus.

Embu County Police Commander Nelson Okioga and Embu West OCPD Esther Muhoro visited the hostels as investigations commenced.

Embu County Commissioner Esther Maina condemned the incident questioning how such an incident happened just a few metres from the AP line.

One of the students, Doris Mwende told Nairobi News that insecurity has been high within the hostel area for a period of time now.
