Former first lady Barbara Bush, 92, died Tuesday at her Huston home in Texas.

A statement from the office of former President George H.W. Bush said that “A former first lady of the United States of America and relentless proponent of family literacy, Barbara Pierce Bush passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at the age of 92,”.

Barbara has been battling congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for a long time, and on Sunday, the office of the former president reported that Barbra had requested not to receive further medical treatment, and wanted to be surrounded by ”a family she adores”.

Barbara met her husband when she was 16.

She will be remembered for her strength, sense of humor, and dedication to helping others.
