Kasarani area in Nairobi is the latest entrant into the city’s COVID-19 caseload with a total of four cases, Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman has said.
On Friday, Dr Aman said Kenya recorded 14 more cases in the last 2 hours bringing the total to 621.
Nairobi recorded 10 cases while Likoni area in Mombasa had three cases. Machakos had one case.
Nine of the new cases are male while five are female aged between 11 months and 39 years.
On a bright note, five more people were discharged. 202 people have since recovered.
The total number of counties which have already recorded coronavirus cases are now 19, the CAS added.
He added that 237 Kenyans who arrived in the country from India have been placed in designated quarantine centres which are hotels on government’s expenses.
The Kenyans who had been stuck in India arrived in the country on Thursday evening and were cleared by staff from the Ministry of Health before proceeding to quarantine.
One of the travel requirements for them was to obtain a medical certificate ascertaining they are COVID-19 free before being allowed to board a plane back to Kenya.
Another group of Kenyans is expected back in the country from China latest by Saturday evening.
Kenyan’s Embassy in China said that 130 people had fully complied with the set requirements to be allowed to jet back into the country.
