A few days after Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o set the internet ablaze with a message of endorsement for her father’s Kisumu governorship bid, a critic has scoffed at her message.
Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma’s last born daughter, Tanya, who has been living in the United States and returned to Kenya recently to support her father’s second bid, laughed off Lupita’s endorsement of her father, Senator Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o.
Tanya, who posted her message on Facebook as well, put to question Nyong’o’s development record when he served as an MP for Seme and Kisumu Rural constituency.
She said he did nothing much to change the lives of the people of Kisumu.
“He [Prof Nyong’o] also represented Seme in Parliament for 20 years, and his development record according to CDF records was pathetic,” Tanya hit out at Lupita.
Lupita in her video message on Facebook highly praised her father’s development record. She said that she has witnessed just how much he has worked to bring development to the people of Kisumu.
“I have experienced the developments, the electricity spreading, schools being built, roads being constructed and medical centers being erected, and you had a lot to do with that,” she said.

“I know for certain that Kisumu County will be a better place and leap into the future with you steering it.” She added:
But Tanya in her rejoinder urged Lupita to support her father’s bid (Ranguma) arguing that all the development that is in Kisumu today has happened under the leadership of her father as the governor and that Prof. Anyan’g Ngong’o did nothing during his tenure.
“Based on her statement, Lupita should be really a Ranguma supporter, because the developments she has witnessed in Kisumu over the last few years are actually things that my father has done, without any help from Prof Nyong’o,” Tanya said.
She said her father is a leader who is geared to develop Kisumu County but his nemesis, Prof. Nyong’o has been hell-bent on stifling development in the County.
