Granny threatens to commit suicide should IEBC bar her from voting for Uhuru

A 69-year old granny from Meru County has threatened to commit suicide if IEBC bars her from voting for Uhuru Kenyatta using her first generation ID card which has been barred.

Jenerosha Mtombui who hails from Central Imenti said she has to vote for Uhuru her ID’s generation notwithstanding.

She explained that though she voted for Uhuru in 2013, it has been difficult for her to have the ID changed.

She cited financial constraints as well as a long distance she has to cover before getting to a registry.

She has to be assisted by another person to walk.

“My age makes it very hard to travel long distances to acquire the new generation ID,” she said.

She said that before August 8, she hopes she will get the new generation ID card so that she can vote.

Area MP Gideon Mwiti said he will have the issue addressed.

She praised Uhuru’s leadership citing it is not comparable to that of opposition boss Raila Odinga.

The granny bashed opposition Chief whom she accused of doing politics of tribalism, hatred and propaganda.

Meru has been an eyesore for both Jubilee and NASA. In 2013 elections, Jubilee got overwhelming support from the region.

Fast forward to today; NASA maintains that the region is no longer a “Jubilee zone”.

They have termed it as a swing county.
