The row between Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and President Uhuru Kenyatta has hit a new high after the governor was blocked from the official launch of the SGR in Miritini Wednesday.

He was blocked from accessing the venue by GSU officers at the Miritini gate.

The event had already kicked off by then.

Joho’s PA Richard Chacha said the officers said they were following orders from above.

On Monday, Joho sent out a chilling message to the President vowing to storm the event and tell him to explain where the “extra” sh100 billion for the SGR is.

The governor who spoke in Siaya said Uhuru is presiding over a corrupt government and as the Governor of Mombasa; he has a responsibility to question how such colossal amounts of money were spent.

But as expected, the President yet again blocked the Governor from attending his event.

On Tuesday when he flagged off a freight train at Port Reitz, Uhuru told Joho to concentrate on developing Mombasa and not engaging in political battles with him.

He added that he (Joho) should tell the people of Mombasa what he has done for them to warrant a second term in office.

Months ago, Presidential elite squad blocked Joho from attending the Mtongwe ferry launch.

Uhuru in his address during the launch took a swipe at the governor telling him that he is not his wife.
