I am not responsible for KAA official sacking, says Matinag’i [video]

Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has responded to allegations that he led to the firing of Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) employee, Daisy Cherongony.

Cherogony is a former KAA employee who worked as a security Advisor until April 7.

She was fired for allegedly subjecting the CS to an “embarrassing” moment by not treating him like a V.I.P.

She is alleged to have remained adamant to allow the CS and his security team to head to the airport without going through screening as required.

She has since sued KAA for wrongful dismissal and is demanding sh2.4 million for damages.

But the CS in a statement on his twitter page refuted the claims stating that he was not responsible for her sacking.

“How could she be disciplined because of me in April while the documents show a process began in February?

I am simply a victim of my office and public profile on this KAA matter. I am shocked about the callous fabrications around it,” lamented the CS.

However, KAA in a suspension letter dated April 7 for cited that Cherogony embarrassed the CS who was to catch a 6am flight to Kisumu.

KAA further told her that she would not get any pay except house and medical allowance as is the policy.

However, in an interview with NTV on Friday, the former KAA employee said she see no mistake in what she did.

Cherogony stated that she was doing her job when she asked the CS and his team to undergo screening.

She added that she was following due process.

“In the security process for the airport, there is nowhere he [Matiang’i] is appearing like a passenger who should be prioritized,” she said.

She has lodged her application with the Nyeri High Court.
