Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata does not regret his move to support Deputy President William Ruto.

Kang’ata was unceremoniously de-whipped from his Majoroty Whip position in the Senate months after taking the position from Susan Kihika (Nakuru).

Kihika was unceremoniously dethroned by Jubilee Party in May 2020 over her association with Ruto.

Kang’ata on Wednesday in response to a tweet by Betty Maina who is a Jubilee member and a director at Athi Water Services said he is at peace though he lost a fortune.

“Moses Kuria, I least understand how you were able to convince my Senator Hon Irungu Kang’ata,  immediate former  Chief Whip, with powers and privileges by the Government, to resign from such a position that you have never held and become your personal Assistant,” Betty wrote on her Facebook page.

Kang’ata in his reply said: “I lost my many bodyguards, allowances totalling 500k per month, and GK vehicle. Even me I am yet to understand. I think Tanga Tanga has some magic.”

Kang’ata’s war with the government started shortly after a leaked letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In the letter the Murang’a Senator told President Uhuru that Mount Kenya voting block was not in support of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

This set him on a collision course with the Jubilee regime and paved way for his removal as the Senate Majority Chief Whip.

In a separate tweet on Thursday, Kang’ata said his focus is ensuring that Ruto ascends to State House.

“Our ultimate goal is to have this man in statehouse. We be the first generation of Kikuyus to make history and support a non-Kikuyu by way of non-violence and democratic means. In adherence to what our Boss told us,”Yangu kumi ya Ruto Kumi,” his tweet read.
