Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu OWino has narrated his harrowing ordeal in the hands of police and in the cells when he was arrested a week ago.

He was first arrested on Monday for issuing derogatory statements against President Uhuru Kenyatta and his mother Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

Babu termed the President as “mtoto wa mbwa”. He was charged with subversion and incitement.

However, just after his release on Wednesday on sh500, 000 bond, he was re-arrested and charged with a separate count of causing grievous bodily harm on Thursday at Kibera Law Courts.

In an interview with Nairobi News, Babu recounted how he was harassed by street urchins in the police cells.

He said they were under instruction by police to harass him while he was in custody.

“They brought 20 underage chokoraas in my cell. They were about 13 and 14 years old. They told me that the police had transferred them from Central Police Station to intimidate me,” he narrated.

But, he talked with them and they confessed they were under instruction to harass him.

“The chokoraas told me, “these people want to finish you” but we have seen that you have been fighting for us and we will not harm you,” he continued.

Babu also said police poured water in his cell at Pangani police station to prevent him from sitting or sleeping.

He still maintains his statement was quoted out of context because he cannot insult the President or his mother.

“Why would I abuse someone like Mama Ngina?” he posed.

He added that he will continue pushing for good governance even after his arrest.
