Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has declared to support President Uhuru Kenyatta for the second term in office.

Speaking in Gatundu on Friday, Kabogo said he supports Uhuru’s re-lection because he has sound policies.

Kabogo said that despite that he is vying as an independent candidate; he will give his support to Jubilee by ensuring that Uhuru gets back State House.

However, he took issues with the President’s call for a six-piece voting model.

The model proposes to have all elective seats in a particular area taken up by candidates from Jubilee Party.

The Kiambu County boss said such a call is likely to hamper development since, even the opposition, have asked voters to adopt a six-piece voting style.

Kabogo, who is the Chairman if Independent candidates Alliance-a movement formed by losers in Jubilee primaries said parties should allow Kenyans to pick the best leader.

He went on to state that Kenya is at a point where voters have realized they can only vote for individuals and not parties.

He noted that independent candidates cannot be ignored because they have the capacity to determine who wins in the next general elections.

“If I have 30,000 followers and another independent candidate has 5,000, do you want to tell me they can ignore us?” asked the governor as told by the Star.

Kabogo is among other political heavy weights from Mt Kenya and Rift Valley who were trounced in the Jubilee primaries.

He will battle it out with Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu who won in the Jubilee nominations.

Waititu says he is optimistic of beating Kabogo once more on August 8.
