Long time radio presenter Zulu Thiong’o has thrown his hat into politics and announced his candidature for Juja parliamentary seat.

Thiong’o who has been working for Inooro FM for more than a decade says he is the best candidate to fill the shoes of the late Francis Munyua Waititu alias “Wakapee”.

Waititu succumbed to brain cancer in February while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Nairobi.

On Wednesday, the radio presenter asked Juja constituents to consider his candidature.

“Ladies and gentlemen. The great people of Juja Constituency, my name is Zulu Thiong’o. I wish to hereby offer myself for election as Juja MP in the forthcoming by election as an independent candidate,” he said.

“I kindly ask for your support as we engage and hit the ground running to make Juja great,” Thiong’o wrote on his social media accounts.

He has worked at Inooro FM as the head of radio. He is now expected to resign and focus on his political ambitions.

Thiong’o moved to Inooro FM 13 years ago after his two-year stint at Kameme FM.

The death of the former MP has attracted a number of politicians among them, philanthropist George Koimburi who is eyeing the seat.

It is not yet clear if one of Waititu’s family members – the wife or one of his sons – will vie for the seat.
