Report by Pharis Kinyua- Jamhuri News

NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga is rapidly closing in on President Uhuru Kenyatta. He has edged closer by 12 percent, according to a new Ipsos Synovate opinion poll released on Tuesday.

If elections were conducted today, 47 per cent of Kenyans would vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta while 42 percent would vote for Raila Odinga.

The opinion poll was conducted between May 11th and May 23rd and 2,026 respondents were interviewed.

The poll puts Jubilee in the red as Raila and his NASA team edge closer.

Further, a total of 71 percent of Kenyans said the country is headed in the wrong direction according to the new poll.

Of these, 92 percent were NASA supporters who felt that Jubilee regime has pushed the country’s economy to the roof and the cost of living is barely manageable.

Also, 45 percent of those polled said they identify with Jubilee while 41 percent said they feel close to NASA.

In recent polls, Raila has been on an upward trend which is attributed to his coalition, NASA, finally naming a Presidential flag bearer.
