Maurisio Montcalli, an Italian national residing in Kenya was on Monday arraigned before a Kiambu court for assaulting a Caucasian woman.
Montcalli was captured on camera clobbering a helpless woman. The clip has since gone viral on social media.
He was arrested on Sunday and arraigned in court on Monday but the court ordered that he be taken to hospital first before he is presented in court again.
Montcalli was badly injured when irate members of the public descended on him during his arrest.
The Italian man is expected to take plea once he gets necessary medical attention.
Montcalli has been living in the posh Edenville Phase One estate along Kiambu Road.
From the video, it is believed that the woman under assault was Montcalli’s neighbor. Efforts by a security guard at the residence and another man standing by does not stop Montcalli from assaulting the woman who yells in pain.
He batters her as he exchanges words with the security guard together with another man who was at the scene.
Although it is not known what led to the fight, from the video, Montcalli is heard asking about his daughter’s whereabouts as he trades heavy blows on the woman.
