Jaguar: My apology was for Starehe constituents not Babu Owino

My apology was not in any way meant for Babu Owino, Starehe MP Charles Kanyi alias Jaguar has now said.

Jaguar got into a brawl with Embakasi East MP (Paul Ongili) on Tuesday at Parliament’s media centre.

On Wednesday at Parliament buildings, Jaguar in a press conference apologized for the public scuffle.

“I want to apologise to the public and the people of Starehe for what happened because I know they never elected me to fight but to work for them,” said he.

And moments later, Babu took to his facebook page and posted: “I have accepted Jaguar’s apology and Embakasi central mp Benjamin for attacking me in Parliament. That was conduct unbecoming of members of parliament.”

However, Jaguar told the Star on Thursday that the apology was not meant for his Embakasi counterpart but for his Starehe constituents.

“Starehe people didn’t elect me to fight in Parliament,” he said.

The reason why the fight started between the two could have been inspired by Babu’s recent “motto wa mbwa” remarks targeting President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Jaguar said he confronted Babu and tried to dissuade him from insulting the President but “Mr Owino started shouting as if he suffers from a bipolar condition and started throwing punches to my side and insulting the President. I want to apologize to all those who were offended by my action.”
