JKIA approved, finally meets USA’s Last Point of Departure standards

JKIA has achieved ‘Last Point of Departure’ status which now allows the airport to officially start direct flights between Kenya and the US.

The managing director of Kenya Airports Authority Mr. Jonny Andersen called the achievement a major breakthrough for Kenya as JKIA becomes one of the elite African airports to be certified as a last point of departure to the United States.

According to KAA, the first flight is scheduled to depart JKIA on 28th of October 2018.

“Kenya Airways will now fly directly to the US, presenting new opportunities for Kenyans in Travel, Trade and Commerce,” Andersen said.

This comes after President Kenyatta and President Trump on Monday, agreed to boost tourism and trade for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
