Jubilee supporters staged a peaceful protest outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday protesting nullification of August 8 polls.

With placards and banners high up in the air, they expressed their frustration with Supreme Court Judges “stealing” President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory.

In one voice, they said the court’s ruling was unfair.

“In any election, there must be issues here and there and this happened in Kenya. The evidence adduced before the court by the Petitioner-NASA was not ground enough to nullify the poll,” lamented Paul Kinuthia, a paralegal and one of the protestors.

He added that change beckons at the Supreme Court and it should start with the removal of Chief Justice David Maraga.

“Maraga and his team should leave the bench because their ruling was irrational by every word.”

The protest came even as Maraga led a meeting with the Judicial Service Commission.

It also came on a day when a Mombasa based NGO, Angaza Empowerment Network, lodged a petition with JSC seeking removal of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu and Justice Isaac Lenaola.

The NGO’s Executive Director Derrick Malika Ngumu cited both Mwilu and Lenaola had been in constant communication and at time, met with NASA’s legal team.

He filed documents containing phone data showing specific time, duration and location when the two Justices engaged with NASA lawyers and other individuals linked to NASA.

Ngumu wants JSC to investigate and have them removed from office.
