High Court judge Roselyn Aburili has summoned Interior CS Fred Matiang’i together with the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet.

The Judge wants the two to explain why they have not restored NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka’s security detail despite a court order directing so.

Kalonzo’s security detail was withdrawn on January 30, moments before the unofficial swearing-in of Raila Odinga as the People’s President.

The former VP moved to court to challenge this move as well as another one to revoke his firearm license. On February 7, Justice Aburili ordered the CS and the IG to restore his security detail as well as suspended any order revoking his firearm license.

Kalonzo in his case argued that the withdrawal of his security detail as well as firearm license were in breach of Retirement Benefits Act of 2015.

He said he was not served with any notice as required in the event of revocation of a firearm license.

The Wiper Party boss was given the firearm certificate in 1998 and owns a Beretta pistol according to the Star.

He said the unconstitutional move by the state to revoke his firearm license and withdraw his security has exposed his family to revenge attacks.

Yesterday, Kalonzo told the Court that the state is yet to comply with the order.

The case is set for mentioning on April 12 when Matiang’i and Boinett are expected to appear in court as directed by the Judge.
