A popular Kabete aspiring member of parliament, Charles Chege, popularly known as ‘Chege Fresh’ went missing on Friday night. His car was recovered in Gitaru, Kabete wrecked with bullets holes.

Protests ensued in Kabete following Chege’s disappearance with residents blocking the busy Wangige-Gitaru road with burning tires as they demanded quick action from police on the matter.

His white Toyota Prado was found dumped at Gitaru near Rungiri Dam in Kabete.

The Jubilee party aspirant was reported missing on Friday after he had concluded a strategic meeting to launch his manifesto which was slated for today at Kanjeru Stadium.

Chege’s driver turned himself in for interrogation when he learned of his boss’ disappearance according to area detectives. Crime investigators collected pieces of evidence at the scene including two used bullet cartridges.

The driver was asked not to speak to the media due to the sensitivity of the matter.

”Local residents called the police to report a shooting in the area at 3am”  Kabete OCPD Joseph Ongaya said.

Mr. Chege lost to Ferdinand Waititu in 2015  Kabete by-election.
