NASA co-Principal and ANC party boss Musalia Mudavadi is quietly oiling his 2022 ambition for Presidency.

This is even as his colleagues in the coalition, Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula continue to put up a brave fight for change in Kenya’s electoral system.

Mudavadi is quite strategic in the reforms he wants in the electoral system to give him a level ground in 2022 when he faces DP William Ruto.

He is cognizant of the fact that his colleagues in NASA; Kalonzo and Wetangula are eyeing the seat as well. Raila is highly unlikely to contest in 2022.

According to the Star, ANC plans to rope in political renegades from across the country as well as create several positions within the party to give it a national outlook.

The new positions to be created in ANC are four deputy party leaders, four vice chairmen and an expanded executive.

This will cater for interests of various individuals brought on board.

Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo is among the leaders being targeted by ANC. If he accepts the offer, he will take up the deputy party leader position and cater for ANC’s interests in Central Kenya.

Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has also been mentioned as well as former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama who will take over as the as the Chairman. Ex-Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale is also on the radar and expected to take over as the party’s Secretary.

ANC is also eyeing to forge a working relationship with smaller political parties like Isaac Ruto’s Chama Cha Mashinani, Charity Ngilu’s Narc Kenya and Gideon Moi’s Kanu-establish an alliance in the run up to 2022 polls.

Lugari MP Ayub Savula, a staunch defender of ANC said though they are strongly in NASA; they are putting their house in order.

“We believe in NASA and the importance of pushing for electoral reforms. However, we also think that it is important that we strengthen our party,” he said as further quoted by the Star.

Though ODM is the dominant party in Western Kenya, ANC has taken up sizeable number political seats in the region-an indication of rising tides for Mudavadi in his backyard.
