A taxi driver based in Nairobi’s up-market, Karen Estate was on Saturday shot dead by police officers for allegedly robbing a female client Sh10, 000 and a handbag.
The suspect, Benson Njuguna was shot by police after a heated chase along Mombasa road.
A pistol was recovered from him.
Police in a report say that the suspect who disguised himself as a cab driver picked the woman from Nextgen Mall along Mombasa Road and was headed for Karen.
He however, stopped before getting to Karen and demanded for her valuables and threw her out of the car and sped off.
“He demanded cash and valuables before he abandoned the woman on the road,” an officer told the Star.
She reported the incident and police started tracking the rogue driver.
Three other handbags were recovered from his car.
