The Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Mvita branch has been closed for three days after one of the staff members tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement on Tuesday, the group said that it has been allowed by the Central Bank of Kenya to close for three days and give way to fumigation of the bank premises.
“KCB Bank Kenya confirms that one of our staff at Mvita branch in Mombasa has tested positive for COVID-19.
“As a precautionary measure, the Branch has since been temporarily closed for 3 days with the approval of the @CBKKenya to enable immediate cleaning and disinfection of the premises,” part of the statement read.
The bank added that staff working at the Mvita Branch have been enlisted for counselling and testing to find out if they contracted the virus too.
“The affected staff who were working with him have been informed and are currently undergoing counselling and screening to ensure their safety and wellbeing,” the bank remarked.
It also assured that it will ensure that all her staff and stakeholders are protected.
KCB noted that it has “several precautionary measures internally, in line with the guidelines issued by government agencies.”
For the period that the bank will be closed, its customers were urged to use its digital platforms to access services and also use KCB Mtaani agents
Some of KCB’s digital platforms include KCB-MPESA, Vooma and internet banking through it app.
Others are cash recyclers, and Cash Deposit Machines and ATMs.
On Tuesday, 62 coronavirus cases were recorded in the country.
