Abdullahi Dimbil Ahmed, a wanted terror suspect was on Monday arrested by Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in collaboration with Jubaland Security Forces (JSF).

Dimbil was behind the 2015 Mandera terror attack. Strategic Intelligence reported his arrest.

He was arrested alongside one of his associates outside Jubaland Security Forces camp in Southern Somalia.

Jubaland Director of Counter Terrorism, National Security and Intelligence Analysis David Goldman said that intel suggest that Dimbil is from Wajir County.

“Abdullahi dimbil is a top AS revenue officer. Intelligence reports confirm he is from Kutulo, Wajir County iDin North Eastern Kenya.”

The anti-terror unit said Dimbil is a powerful figure in the terror network as he is the lead financier.

He is the one responsible for holding revenues for Al-Shabaab.

“He was also responsible for disbursement of payments to fighters and funding cross-border terror attacks,” the Counter Terrorism Unit said.

Together with Mohamed Osman, Mohamed Ahmed, and Abubakar Yunis, Dimbil masterminded the 2015 Mandera Bus terror attack.

The bus was hijacked near the Kenyan-Somali border at El Wak. The bus was Mandera bound from Nairobi.

Muslims on board showed solidarity as they told the terrorist to kill all of them instead of killing innocent Christians who were on board.

Two people were, however, killed.
