The Kenyan government will write to the British government seeking extradition on Judge Philip Ransley from the UK.

The Director of Public Prosecution will seek for his extradition through the Attorney General who will in turn send the letter to UK through the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Ransley-has both Kenyans and British Citizenship-is accused of swindling many Kenyans of their property worth millions of dollars. Ransley fled Kenya through Dubai and finally landed in the UK in June 2016.

At the time of his escape to England, he had been charged with stealing Sh102.7 million from Angela Scott and Sh152.7 million from Rowland Minns.

The High Court in Milimani on January 21, 2017 issued an arrest warrant for him.

The 85-year old reportedly fleeced his clients through his law firm, Ransley McVicker Shaw Advocates, which he started in 2007 after retiring from the Kenyan bench.

His wife, Virginia Ransley, a partner a partner at the law firm also stands accused of stealing Sh12.7 million from Minns.

Minns, a former estate agent sold a plot of land in Langata through Ransley’s law firm for Sh260 million in 2014.

Ransley delayed remitting the monies. He however, paid up Sh105 million and was left with the balance which Minns is pursuing through legal mechanisms.

Ransley delayed remitting the funds to Minns but he eventually managed to get Sh105 million. Minns is taking legal action to recover the outstanding Sh155 million.

They are duo are supposed to appear before the Law Society of Kenya to answer to claims of professional misconduct on March 19 this year.

Virginia however, distanced herself from the Minns case saying she did not handle the case.

“I didn’t lose the money. I didn’t handle his file ( Minns). It was nothing to do with me,” she told the Star adding “They should sue the company (RMSA) to get his money back, not Philip and me personally.”

Ransley is said to be having financial constraints given he has had multiple marriages-five to be exact. He was living with his daughter Candice Ransley  and Marc Schneider in Richmond, London before he moved out and now leaves on a small flat.

His financial woes began after a botched copper business where he lost millions to a Congolese conman.

In 2015, further reports the Star, he paid Sh165 million to two men to acquire Euro banknotes that could be washed clean with a special chemical but it never happened.
