Kenya Railways has introduced commuter buses in the city through the Nairobi Commuter Rail Service.

The buses will be plying two main routes with fares ranging between Ksh30 and Ksh50.

In a statement, Kenya Railways said “Welcome to the NCR Bus Service by KRC. Enjoy a convenient connection of road and rail transport. Alight one, board the other in a few minutes.”

The buses will be at the Nairobi Central Railway Station and will be plying the Waiyaki Way route, the first stop being Westlands via Jevanjee-Museum Hill- CFC Stanbic-Chromo-Westlands Bus Terminus-Brookside-Safaricom-ABSA- ABC Palace and James Gichuru.

“Westlands is closer than you think! Take the NCR bus from Nairobi Central Railway’s,” Kenya Railways wrote on Twitter.

A ticket for the journey will be purchased on board.

The buses will operate on a schedule, the first one leaving the railway station for Westlands at 7:45 am and arrive at 8:08 am in Westlands.

Another one will leave Westlands at 8:12 am and arrive in the CBD at 8: 35 am

From the CBD, another bus will leave at 8:35 am for ABC along Waiyaki Way and arrive at 9: 15 am.

There will be another bus from the railway station at 7:44 am to ABC every morning. Another bus will leave ABC at 8:18 am for railways station and arrive at 8:50 am.

The other route for Kenya Railways commuter buses will be from the CBD to Yaya Centre passing through Serena, Integrity Centre, Nairobi Hospital, DoD, Hurlingham, Chaka Place and finally Yaya Centre for a cost of Ksh50.

The buses will be operating during the morning and evening hours.

Kenya Railways has insisted that all passengers must abide by the all COVID-19 protocols.

“1st things 1st, Please wear a mask, wash your hands often, and avoid unnecessary body contact,” a notice read.

Last year, Kenya Railways introduced multiple diesel units (DMU) trains plying five major routes in and outside the city to ease traffic congestion.
