A Kenyan student at Uganda’s Makerere University has put up a brave show and exposed one of her lecturers who allegedly harassed her sexually.

The student who hails from Limuru, Kiambu County reported the incident to Police in Uganda.

Makerere University has since suspended Edward Kisuze, a senior administrative assistant in the Academic Registrar’s Department.

A suspension letter dated April 17, posted on the university’s twitter page and signed by acting Vice Chancellor Prof William Bazeyo, stated that Kisuze stands suspended and only half pay to allow for investigations into the matter.

“I hereby suspend you from university service on half pay with immediate effect to allow a smooth investigation into the matter. You are strongly advised to desist from any access to the senate building premises and interactions with students of Makerere University until investigations are completed.”

Kisuze is alleged to have sexually harassed the female student at his office located within the University’s Senate building.

In her statement to police, the student said Kisuze forcefully kissed her private parts. And since there were no cameras in the room, she took a selfie to back her claim.

In the images that have since widely circulated on social media, the female student is seen standing  while her skirt is pulled up and a man’s head is seen tucked deep inside her thighs.

In her post, she says she kept the selfie until her course clearance and that her attacker locked the room, grabbed her and forced her into the sexual act.

The university’s spokesperson Rita Namisango said they have zero tolerance for sexual harassment.

“We as Makerere, we have zero tolerance sexual harassment. We have always been asked about which action we are taking and now the action we have taken is to suspend the lecturer. We also want him arrested. We are encouraging students to report such cases as soon as possible to the office of the Academic registrar, Dean of Students, Vice Chancellor and the communications. We shall handle it with effectiveness,” she said according to Daily Monitor.

Namisango added the lecturer had been arrested over the incident.
