A Kenyan mum who was found dead together with her 10-month old son in Gentofte, Denmark a week ago killed him, police reports indicate.

Danish police have said Fridah “Rashida” Shironya killed her son before she committed suicide.

“As part of the investigation, there has been autopsy of the deceased, as well as a number of technical examinations,” read part of the police statement according to Daily Nation.

It added: “All of these studies show that the mother killed the little boy and then herself. Nordsjællands (North Zealand) Police wishes to emphasise that the man is beyond any suspicion on the matter.”

The lifeless bodies were found a week ago at Shironya’s apartment by her husband, Dane who was questioned by police before being released.

The deceased who hails from Kakamega had been working with the Teacher’s Service Commission in Nairobi before she moved to Denmark in July 2014.

She was in her mid 20’s. She first met Dane in Kenya when he was working with a global charitable organization and she fell in love with him and flew to Denmark.

Before her death on Saturday, she had made posts on her facebook page hinting at emotional abuse.

“Just because a person doesn’t put hands on you, that doesn’t mean they aren’t abusive. Abuse is control, blatant disrespect, and also hurtful words,” she posted.

One of her confidants intimated to Daily Nation that she had been having marital problems. Every time she opened up, she would break down.

“I spoke to her after seeing the posts. But she told me, ‘I can’t do anything; I have a baby’. Then she started crying. That’s the painful part of it. She was like, ‘How can I leave a baby? The moment I step out of this house, I’ll be deported,” said her friend who requested for anonymity.

Her last line of action was sending her mother’s contact to a friend who lives near her house in Denmark while she also sent her mother her friend’s number.

Her friends are raising money through an online platform, GoFundMe to enable her family in Kenya to travel to Denmark.

A message on the site reads: “We are working on finding a way to bring Frida’s family to Denmark as they live in Kenya. We are appealing to people of good heart to help in financially facilitating this and the funeral for our two angels.”
