Police have warned of a syndicate posing as NTSA officials that is conning Kenyans using the Smart Card Driving Licenses.
The name of one of the members, Nishal (mobile number 0722795103/0786883500) was on Sunday released by police.
Nishal has been posing as an NTSA official.
“The Authority wishes to inform members of the public that NTSA does not transact its services through any individual and Nishal is unknown to the Authority. He is not authorized to transact on behalf of NTSA,” the police advisory read in part according to the Star.
NTSA said that the Digital driving licenses are only issued by the authority to persons who have lost or defaced their driving licenses.
The authority further advised anyone who seeks to replace his driving license to log in to the TIMS portal.
“When opening the account, ensure all the information provided is correct and if you experience any challenges, contact the nearest NTSA office for assistance. Do not disclose your personal details to any party.
“NTSA shall not be responsible for any transactions within your TIMS Account,” NTSA advised.
The application process will cost Sh3, 050 where an invoice will be generated online once the payment via mobile money is made.
The validity of the period of the DL will be three years.
NTSA will also advise the applicant on when to collect the DL once the application process has been undertaken.
