Kenya’s death toll rises to 1,664

The number of COVID-19 case increased on Monday after 69 more people tested positive for the virus raising the country’s tally to 95,992.

A sample size of 1,987 was tested bringing cumulative tests in the country to 1,035,309.

Out of the positive cases, 53 are Kenyans while 16 are foreigners with 40 being males and 29 females.

The youngest case was a three-year-old child while the oldest was 87.

Some 98 people were discharged after recovering from the virus. 77 were from the home-based care programme while 21 were discharged from various health facilities across the country.

The total recoveries in the country are now 77,521.

However, six patients succumbed to the deadly virus bringing the total fatalities in the country to 1,664.

Another 673 patients are currently admitted in various hospitals across the country and 3,386 are on home-based care isolation and care.

Additionally, 38 patients are in the Intensive Care units (ICU), 17 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 13 on supplemental oxygen. 4 are on observation.

Another 31 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 24 are in the general wards. 7 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
