Kericho residents nominate Watchman for MCA to send a warning on imposition of leaders

By Pharis Kinyua: Jamhuri News

A middle aged man from Kericho County who has been working as a night guard in the town has shocked residents after clinching Jubilee Party’s ticket to vie for MCA in August.

Eric Bett trounced Kipchebor ward MCA in the primaries to emerge the winner.

Bett, made entry to the streets of Kericho town atop a moti (mkokoteni) waving at people and thanking them for voting for him.

It is believed that residents of Kipchebor ward overwhelming voted for Bett to send a message to Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter.

A section of Kericho constituents have blamed Keter for imposing leaders of his choice to them.

They said that with Bett, it was clear that they can make their own decisions and Keter or any other senior politician, should never impose any leader on them.

Bett has been working in the town as a night guard, a job that voters overlooked and overwhelmingly voted for him.

While his competitors conducted sophisticatd and expensive campaigns, Bett banked on his vision to offer alternative leadership to the people of Kipchebor.

And as it is, his vision and down-to-earth attitude, caught the eyes of the voters who have now spoken.
