Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange succumbs to Covid-19 at Nairobi Hospital

Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange has succumbed to Covid-19-related complications.

News of his death came on Wednesday morning. He had been admitted to the Nairobi Hospital where he was receiving treatment.

Prior to his death, the Kiambaa MP was the National Assembly Security Committee chairperson in the Kenyan parliament.

He was one of the four Kiambu MPs who successfully retained their Parliamentary seats in the 2017 elections.

President Uhuru Kenyatta eulogized him as a dependable leader who showed that he cared for the country and his people.

Deputy President William Ruto described the deceased as visionary and focused.

“Honourable Paul Koinange was a dependable, illustrious and visionary figure who worked for the people of Kiambaa Constituency with diligence. He was a progressive and selfless politician whose exceptional servant leadership will be missed. We pray to God that He grants strength to the family, their loved ones, the people of Kiambaa and our Parliament at this time of grief. Rest In Peace, Hon. Koinange,” Ruto mourned.

Due to his portfolio as the Chairperson for National Assembly Security Committee, Koinange was a champion for peace and reforms in the police service among them better housing for police officers.
