Kikuyu Council of elders in Thika have performed a traditional ritual to curse Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino after issuing derogatory remarks against President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

The elders slaughtered a lamb without blemish at Mama Ngina gardens in Thika.

They later lit fire, mixed blood with milk, honey and other herbs before spilling it on the fire.

Smoke billowed up high in the sky, a sign that God had heard their request and accepted their sacrifice according to the elders.

Led by Elder Michael Kinge from Ndumberi, the elders said they also prayed while facing Mt Kenya as is tradition among the Kikuyu community.

On Sunday during a NASA rally in Kawangware, Babu in a show of disrespect called Uhuru “mtoto wa mbwa”.

Protest followed on Monday in Kiambu calling for his arrest.

He was arrested in the evening and charged with subversion. He was released on Wednesday on sh500, 000 bond but was later re-arrested and taken back to police cells.

Council Chairman elder Njoroge Karatu, 91, said the sacrifice is to call on the powers that be from above to strike the MP for his derogatory statements against Uhuru who is also an elder.

“We were angered by the young boy’s insults. Even the Bible is clear that parents must be respected alongside leaders who have been anointed to lead,” stated Kinge according to the Star.

“Likening the former First lady to a dog and the president to a puppy has caused us a lot of pain. God will unleash His wrath upon him,” added he.

Babu will experience the repercussions in seven days, seven months or seven years.

He also said the aftermath of the curse will shake the country.

“We were born by mothers and every mother or woman who listened to what Owino said, likening them to dogs, must be hurt. This sacrifice will make this country tremble once the curse takes effect.”

He said should the MP seek for forgiveness, the elders will converge again and conduct another ritual to cleanse him and set him free.

“Elders can still conduct another cleansing ceremony that will set him free of the curse if he seeks forgiveness,” said the elder.
