Wangechi Waruire, a Kenyan woman who is based in Dubai has warmed the hearts of Kenyans after reports emerged that she has been feeding jobless Kenyans in UAE.

Waruire had been working as a taxi driver in Dubai for a while but quit in October 2019.

She cited low earnings as her reason for resignation from a job that she treasured.

She told BBC that “I had to resign in October 2019 after months of minimal earnings because Terminal One at the main airport was closed and we earn from commissions.”

She says that after the COVID-19 pandemic, she was touched by the plight of fellow Kenyans citizens sleeping hungry as they had lost their jobs.

When she spoke to her husband about her plan to feed the needy Kenyans, he supported her and bought foodstuff for her.

She prepared the meals and posted on her Facebook page asking needy Kenyans to visit her homestead to collect it.

Over the pandemic season, her kind gesture has impacted the lives of scores of Kenyans who live in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
