After highlighting one Zablon Mukiira from Meru who has vowed to sell his property to finance Jubilee campaigns, Meru Senator has promised to finance him.

Kiraitu told the Nation that he felt humbled such an old man would commit himself to the party and go a notch higher to sell his property.

“I want to support him so that he does not sell his property. I will give him Sh100,000 to facilitate the campaign he is planning to roll out,” said the Meru Senator who is vying for the governorship.

Kiraitu said Mukiira’s call should be emulated by other politicians and Meru constituents and make sure they vote for Uhuru on August 8.

“We need more Meru people to have the same commitment as Mr. Mukiira.”

Mukiira, 78, had resolved to sell a bull and sheep and a 2-acre piece of land to finance Uhuru’s campaign.

I will sell my only bull at Sh40,000 and three sheep at Sh25,000 to campaign for the president because I feel some people don’t want to vote for him. I believe in his leadership because he has done a lot for us in the last five years. I will move from village to village to tell the people what the Jubilee government has done,” he stated.

All these assets could total to over sh10 million.

His wife Esther Mukiira, and their two sons, Gregory Mukiiria and Dominic Mutethia had tried to plead with their father not to sell any of the family’s property but he remained adamant.

He insisted that Uhuru has so far done good work for Kenyans and his support would go a long way in having him re-elected.
