KQ advertises 140 job positions after sacking engineers, technicians

Kenya Airways has advertised 140 job positions after sacking the previous job holders, mainly engineers on Wednesday evening.

The technical operators were sacked after strike in Wednesday pushing for higher pay.

They want the airline to raise their pay by upto three-and-a-half times to reach the level of their counterparts working in Middle East airlines.

However, KQ has turned this down saying it is not realistic.

In a media advert on Friday, the airline called for qualified persons in the technical and engineering field to tender their application by December 15.

“Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following job opportunities – engineers and technicians… For detailed role profiles, please visits our website and apply online. Deadline for application is December 15,” read part of the statement.

One of the engineers had earlier said that despite efforts to engage the management of the airline to raise their pay, nothing has been forthcoming.

The sacked lot is expected to challenge their dismissal in the labor court.
