Kenyans in the US who wish to return to return to Kenya amid coronavirus outbreak can take advantage of a free one-way ticket from New York To Nairobi ahead of international flights suspension on Wednesday.
Ordinarily, a one-way flight ticket from New York’s JFK Airport to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi will go between Sh98,825 to Sh100,000.
KQ in a statement on Tuesday reckoned ” As our last flight departs JFK today, we are offering one-way complimentary tickets to Nairobi, to Kenyan citizens in urgent need. Please contact our team on +1(866)5369224 for more information.”
The airline added that all passengers will be screened for COVID-19 as a measure of compliance with a set of new orders given by the Ministry of Health.

On Sunday, KQ in a statement suspended all international flights in the wake of a fierce spread of coronavirus.
“We are temporarily suspending all international passenger services effective 25/03/2020 until further notice. We apologise greatly to our affected customers for the inconvenience caused and look forward to serving you once again,” the carrier said.
Cargo flights will, however, continue with international cargo flights “particularly to offer emergency services and much-needed supplies.”
KQ has since sent a section of the management team on unpaid leave while another team has been forced to take a 75 percent pay cut starting April 1.
KQ CEO Allan Kilavuka said that the decision was arrived at after factoring in declining revenue occasioned by the coronavirus outbreak.
“We are facing challenging times and I would like to reiterate that we are in this together. I assure you that you are at the centre of every decision affecting our airline,” CEO Allan Kilavuka said.
He added: “All employees who will not be required at work will take their annual leave with immediate effect.” However, he noted that there would be no layoffs.
“We have been evaluating how these events will affect you and have made every effort to conserve jobs across the business. We are therefore not taking any decision on layoffs. “
