Lupita’ Nyongo skips home country, flies to South Africa to promote Black Panther

Celebrated Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o has left scores of fans in her home County, Kisumu a disappointed lot after opting to promote her latest movie, “Black Panther” in South Africa and not Kenya.

On valentine’s eve, a red carpet was rolled out in Kisumu City where thousands of elated fans expected her to grace the premiere of the breath-taking movie.

Lupita’s father Prof Peter Anyang Nyong’o is the Governor for Kisumu.

Imax Marketing Manager Flora Njagi at the time said they chose to Kisumu as the movie’s premiere stage because she is a native of the county.

She said that though Lupita was not physically present at the Premiere of Black Panther; her presence can always be felt deep inside.

“She couldn’t be here in the flesh, but for her fans,  Lupita’s presence on the movie poster, on display at the premier next to the red carpet in Nairobi and Kisumu was enough for us,” said Njagio as quoted by Nairobi News.

Lupita plays the role of Nakia in Black Panther. Her character is about a Wakanda spy who is sent on missions all over the world.

Yesterday, her co-star, Danai Gurira who plays General Okoye in the movie shared a picture of Lupita and her aboard a flight to South Africa on twitter  with the caption: En route to South Africa!!!! Taking BP to motherland!”

Black Panther will officially premiere today across the world.
