There was a horrible scene in Ruiru on Tuesday as police arrested a man who had been living with the dead body of his girlfriend who died he allegedly killed on April 18.
The suspect Franklin Munyao, 44, is said to have strangled to death his girlfriend in Kambi Moto area of Ruiru.
The woman was last seen on Sunday while hanging clothes on the clothesline.
Munyao works as a waiter in Ruiru.
Neighbours were alarmed after a strong bout of rottenness waft the air. Police were informed and they arrived at the scene. There were also flies on his windows and door which was indicative of something amiss.
They broke down the door to the house and found the lifeless body wrapped in a polythene bag and lying on the bed. The slain woman had been visiting Munyao a few times a month.
John Ngara said that: “We did not know the lady had been killed. Munyao would routinely leave the house in the morning and return in the evening.
He added that they saw the suspect leaving for work not knowing that he lived with a dead body since Sunday.
“We even saw him leaving for work this morning (Tuesday, April 20). We’re shocked to learn that he was staying with a dead woman’s body in his house,” he said.
Neighbours say that the two have never been heard arguing or fighting.
Her body was taken to General Kago mortuary in Thika.
